Lauri Saine is a Finnish composer, focusing on instrumental music beyond genres. Being on a constant look-out for new musical perspectives has allowed him to shape a sound signature you won't come across elsewhere. He released his debut album 'Imagine This' on Helsinki-based Cymbidium Records in 2007, previously having released numerous classic netlabel releases on Tokyo Dawn Records. At the age of 26 Saine has now released his second album entitled ‘Break A Pattern’ digitally and as a limited double LP edition.

Moving towards more freedom of expression and away from what might be an obvious commercial move for some, Saine has kept his music on the move. He aims to blur the line between sampled and recorded elements, keeping a constant watch on what he believes makes music worthwhile instead of formalities. Preferring new generation tracker software as a basis in his composing environment, Saine wants to be as creative as possible with his sound sources.

Saine finds the battle between new genres and labels amusing. The idea of having to sacrifice an authentic idea just to create a brief illusion of freshness doesn't appeal to him any more than the concept of repeating an old pattern over and over. While both far-ends are popular, you could say one of the most notable things in Saine's music is a characteristic blend of something familiar with something unidentified. Imagine seeing a photograph of something you quite remember, but have never come across. You can hear this approach clearly on the new 'Break a Pattern' album.

His first album ‘Imagine This’ drew distinctively from hip-hop, electronica and jazz, receiving a positive welcome for it’s unique and cozy ambience. After the debut however, Saine felt the music needed more room to breathe and develop on its own and has done his best to maintain as much air for creativity as possible, away from schedules of the overworked society. With a downside of occasional financial glitches on the personal side of things, the result is an intimate album you can find new angles from with each and every listen.

Already working on new ideas, you can be assured you will hear plenty more of Saine's work in the near future. Meanwhile, the well-received debut 'Imagine This' is available for purchase and the brand new 'Break A Pattern' album is now also released! Keep checking in for updates and additional information.
